Early November brought great news to firearm fans in California with the announcement that the California Department of Justice announced the approval of the Franklin Armory CA7 AR pistol. This new option provides California gun owners with an AR-style pistol that, for now, is a one-of-a-kind offering for residents of the state.
"This is historic, since the CA7 is the only AR pistol approved by the State of California that is not a single shot, " Franklin Armory President Jay Jacobson said.
Each Franklin Armory CA7 AR pistol is chambered in 5.56 NATO and features a 7.5-inch, medium-contour barrel rifled with a 1:9-inch twist rate and topped with an A2-style muzzle device. The barrel is surrounded by the company's trademarked FST handguard, which measures 7 inches long and features M-lok cutouts at seven different angles surrounding the circumference of the forearm, allowing for the attachment of lights, lasers and other accessories. The top surface of the handguard is machined with a Picatinny rail that mates with the flattop Picatinny optics rail on the top of the upper receiver, providing plenty of real estate for adding iron sights and optics.
At the rear of the Franklin Armory CA7 AR pistol, consumers will find a standard pistol buffer tube wrapped with a foam pad that allows users to obtain a comfortable cheek weld when aiming. The pistol is equipped with a standard A2 pistol grip and features a mil-spec charging handle and a bolt-carrier group treated with a salt-bath nitride finish. Each AR pistol also comes with Franklin Armory's CA trigger and a detachable 10-round magazine. The forged, caliber-marked lower receiver is also loaded with a mil-spec safety selector.
The suggested retail price on the Franklin Armory CA7 AR pistol is $934.99.
