In recent years, several of Glock's more-popular handgun models have been outfitted with milled slides designed to receive micro-sized reflex optics for easy sighting. In 2018, Glock expanded its MOS line of handguns to include Gen 5 variations of the company's iconic G19 compact handgun, giving users the ability to mount an optic of their choosing for faster, more-intuitive sighting.

“The MOS platform offers a convenient way for users to mount reflex sights without costly alterations to an original Glock slide,” said Glock, Inc. VP Josh Dorsey. “The resulting combination of optical sighting and the unparalleled accuracy and reliability of the new generation of Glock pistols set a new standard for this class of pistol.”

Like other models in the company's MOS lineup, the Glock G19 Gen 5 MOS features a cutout in the slide located just forward of the rear-sight dovetail. This milled area is compatible with a number of mounting plates, allowing owners to select the reflex optic that best fits their needs and budget. Of course, all of the Gen 5 genealogy found on Glock's latest iteration are included, such as the groove-less grip frame, enhanced texturing, replaceable backstraps, improved trigger and the accurate Marksman barrel.

One unique feature found only on the MOS model of the Gen 5 G19 are identical slide serrations found on both the front and rear of the slide, differing from the standard G19, which only has serrations at the rear of the slide. The addition of slide serrations on the front of the gun offers owners of optically sighted pistols an additional, textured surface for manipulating the slide without working around the red dot located directly above the gun's rear serrations.

The overall length of the Glock G19 Gen 5 MOS is 7.28 inches, and the gun measures 5.04 inches high and 1.34 inches wide. With an empty magazine, and slide-cover plate included, the gun weighs in at 23.81 ounces.
