Velocity Triggers, based in Phoenix, AZ, has combined more than 30 years of trigger design, manufacturing and assembly in order to offer shooters a pre-assembled drop-in trigger housing designed to easily install into any AR-15 lower with no gunsmithing required. The company's latest is the 3-pound AR Straight Trigger.

The Straight Trigger uses the same design found in other Velocity triggers, but the unit incorporates a straight trigger with a flat face for shooters who prefer that design over more traditional curved-trigger designs. The Straight Trigger is a single-stage design and provides a very clean, crisp break with no initial take-up.

The new triggers from Velocity now feature a Diamond-Like Carbon coating on all triggers, which provides the trigger with a low coefficient of friction and a high hardness in order to provide for a smoother trigger pull. The added benefit of the new DLC coating is that it ensures that the trigger surfaces will not rust and will provide for greater wear resistance.

To install the unit, simply remove the standard trigger and trigger pins and drop in the Velocity unit, reusing the same trigger pins that held in the old assembly. The trigger housing uses two 8/32 x 1/8 set screws to push the trigger off the bottom of the receiver, locking in the trigger pins. Due to this design feature, Velocity recommends that users with polymer AR lowers use the company's stainless-steel shim below the trigger housing.

The Velocity AR Straight Trigger is compatible with all popular rifle calibers in AR-15 and AR-10 platforms, but the company does not recommend use with 9 mm conversions or any other open-bolt face.

The suggested retail price for the new 3-pound Velocity AR Straight Trigger is $150.
