New for 2014, LaserLyte has a new Trigger Tyme Training pistol. The original version utilized the LT-PRO Universal Trainer to activate laser-ready targets; the new training pistol has the laser built right in. LaserLyte's existing line of laser-actuated targets (along with an exciting new target we'll cover next week) will work with this new training pistol.

There are tradeoffs in this new system. With the old system, you could use the LT-PRO for any firearm with a barrel length greater than 2 inches, meaning you could save a little money by using the same laser unit for your practice blue gun and your daily carry firearm. With the new system, two devices are needed.

The advantage of having the laser built into the training pistol become immediate every time you pick up the pistol for training. It's ready when you are. There's no searching through drawers looking for the last place you had the LT-PRO; you just turn on the laser target, pick up the training pistol, and get to work pulling the trigger. It's just that simple.

The Trigger Tyme Laser training pistol is sized comparably to a Glock G19 or Smith & Wesson M&P full size. The trigger pull weight is 5.5 pounds, similar to the Glock or Smith as well, so it will serve as a close approximation for either of those handguns as well as a variety of other striker-fired semi-automatics. Battery life is claimed at 50,000 shots, and the unit takes three A76 batteries.

MSRP: $149.95.
