Glaser Safety Slugs come in two forms; the blue-tipped bullets encase No. 12 shot and the silver-tipped bullets No. 6 shot. Previous tests showed you can expect about 7 inches of penetration from the silver Glaser Slug and the blue-tipped bullet drove shot and jacket fragments to around 6.5 inches. Surprisingly, penetration depth did not vary when the bullet was fired from a 5- or 3.3-inch barrel, even though velocity varied by as much as 150 fps. However, the wound cavity was noticeably larger from the bullet with the higher velocity.
