With a great 20-year record on the street and a good reputation for working even after passing through intermediate barriers, Federal's 230-grain Hydra-Shok load for the .45 ACP is legendary. The Hydra-Shok bullet design has undergone several refinements over the last few years. The once popular center post that was such a distinctive characteristic of this bullet is now gone, at least in the 230-grain .45 ACP offering. Expanded bullets now bear a very close resemblance to the PMC Starfire. Regardless, this is still a great defensive load for the .45 Auto.
