In day-to-day applications, we have a variety of options for carrying our gear. Backpacks, slings and messenger-style bags are all excellent at holding stuff you might need but don't need right away. On the training course, though, we need more immediate access.

The Blue Force Gear 10-Speed Ultralight Dump Pouch folds into itself when not needed, taking up two tiny slots on a MOLLE-equipped pack or strapped to your belt. It deploys instantly with a gentle pull of the nylon cord and offers a cavernous bag capable of carrying 10 30-round AR-15 magazines.

Alternately, it can carry water bottles, shotgun shells, first aid gear or pretty much any other item you might need on hand in a given day. Best of all, if you don't need it, it tucks up out of the way and weights a whopping 2.1 ounces.

MSRP: $45. Available in multicam (shown), black, OD Green, Coyote Brown and Wolf gray.
