Let's face it. We're gear people. Sure, we like to think that they're just tools, but really, it's more than that. Finding the right piece of equipment is just as as much an art form as a science. Something that looks great on paper turns out to be, well, less than what you expected when you start using it.
Fortunately, the Diamondback folding knife from First Tactical doesn't fall into this category. From the G10 scales to the AUS8 steel blade, this is a serious knife for serious work. Or, if you're like the vast majority of folks out there who carry one, the not-quite-so-serious work of opening boxes and cutting tape.
The Diamondback is hefty, built tough and sized right for most purposes. Single-hand opening is easily achieved thanks to the unique "thumb bridge" mechanism that allows quick release of the blade using either hand. The beefy pocket clip is reversible for left- or right-handed users and the liner lock us oversize for easy manipulation. At 5.6 ounces, this is on the heavier side for a pocket knife but still quite usable.
