Speer Gold Dot bullets have become a popular choice for law enforcement agencies. This is due in no small part to the quality of the ammunition Speer manufacturers and the ability of the Gold Dot bullet to perform very well in FBI terminal performance testing. The 124-grain load in 9 mm has become somewhat of a compromise between the slower 147-grain and the zippy 115-grain. There are proponents of both of these bullet weights in 9 mm and the 124 bridges the gap. This standard velocity offering from Speer showed deep penetration and expanded to just over 1.5 times its original diameter.
